THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFETY WARNING LIGHTS IN THE FALL SEASON

As fall arrives and summer ends, there is less sunlight each day and thus greater need for increased safety measures. Warning lights fill the need for increased visibility among road workers, landscapers, fire and emergency crews as well as pedestrians. A new report from the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) claim that 6,590 pedestrian fatalities occurred in 2019, a 30 year high. The risks are high and could include serious injury or death. Carrying a rechargeable led roadside flare kit will keep you safer if you get a flat on the side of the road and need to change your tire and/or wait for assistance. For worker crews and laborers, a couple of cones coupled with some battery powered led beacons can help keep your vehicles safely secured on the side of the road and on work sites, protected against costly and unnecessary damage. Many times during the fall season landscapers leave their trucks on the side of the roads. When it’s dark, it is not until the last moment that motorists can see the parked vehicle, leaving too much potential for driver error and accidents. With good safety warning lights as your insurance plan you can rest easy knowing you’ve done all you can to help prevent accidents. But safety is not just an issue relegated to the motorists themselves. Joggers, walkers and trick-or-treaters can benefit from safety lights as well. A simple led clip light and led beanie could a step further in ensuring your own safety. The reduced visibility that comes with the cooler temperatures of fall should not be underestimated. Safety begins and ends with preparation. With both motorists and pedestrians each doing their part, we can all prevent unnecessary damage and injury and save lives. There is no shortage of choices and the monetary costs are not high, especially when contrasted with the consequences. In the workplace alone, according to the National Safety Council, there were 4,493 preventable workplace deaths in 2018 and over 170 billion dollars in costs resulting from preventable workplace accidents. Just how many of these deaths could have been prevented and how many dollars could have been saved with safety warning light measures is unknown, but any number would be a step in right direction. With the fall season already here it’s time to invest in safety preparation.Lumastrobe carries a full line of safety warning lights for all applications.
